I made a conscious decision to cheat on my husband.
Now, before you judge me, hear my story. Hear how much I'm like you, how similar my thoughts are to your own. Yes, I'm a horrible person. Yes, I've done horrible things. Yes, I don't deserve forgiveness. Yes, bad things happened because of my actions.
But I'm willing to bet I've done things that maybe, just maybe, you have thought of doing.
Maybe, just maybe, you're not as innocent as you'd like to think.
Or maybe I'm not so guilty ...
WARNING: This book involves CHEATING. The word AFFAIR is in the title. The main character has an AFFAIR. In the synopsis (directly above), she states that she intentionally has an AFFAIR. If you don't like CHEATING, then you have been VERY WELL warned. Also, this book is primarily written in the third-person narrative.
As a book reviewer, I know writing about cheating is so taboo. It takes true talent do be able to do it and do it right and with class. What Stylo has done with this story is unfold the ins and outs of a marriage that was troubled from the beginning. Love is not always about meeting Mr.Right and falling madly in love and having a perfect romance. Nor is it walking down the street and falling into the arms of a billionaire who sweeps you off of your feet and you live happily ever after. Some marriages are not perfect. There are affairs. For this author to take the leap and write a classy story about something I feel like is as close to real life as I have read in a long time. I loved this book from start to finish. Once I started reading it I just knew it would keep me up late into the night because I had to see how this story played out. And I must say that I think it was a perfect ending to such a wonderful book.
